  3. EarthportPlc, the leading payment network for cross-border transactions, has received the Reserve Bank of India’s permission to operate cross border payments service to banks in India.

Appointment:

  1. The new Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes(CBDT), who took charge from 1st November 2016 is Sushil Chandra.

  2. Kim Byong-joon has been appointed as the new Prime Minister of South Korea.

  3. Sarabjit Singh Marwah has become the first Sikh to be appointed to the Canadian Senate.

  4. On 2nd November 2016, Kristalina Georgieva was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank Group with effect from January 2017.

  5. Praveen Kumar Sharma was appointed as MD and CEO of Central Registry of Securitisation Asset Reconstruction and Security Interest of India (Cersai).

  6. M Rajeshwar Rao has been appointed as Executive Director(ED) of the RBI.

MoU or Agreement:

  1. India has signed MoU with Palestine to set Palestine-Indo techno park in Ramallah on 31st October 2016.

  2. Assam government has signed a MoU with the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation and Airport Authority of India under Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS)

  3. LinkedIn is one of the leading professional network company has signed an agreement with HRD ministry to create jobs for Indian students.

  4. Corporation Bank has signed a MoU with the Indian Army on defence salary package.

Science & Technology:

  1. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) announced that it will spend 482crore to strengthen food testing infrastructure, including upgrading laboratories.

  2. An Online platform named ‘Nyaaya’ has been launched in India which explains the country’s laws.

  3. Japan has launched a next-generation meteorological satellite named, “Himawari-9”.

  4. On 10th November 2016, China has launched a pulsar navigation satellite, which will conduct in-orbit experiments using pulsar detectors to demonstrate new technologies.

  5. India’s first banking robot called ‘Lakshmi’ was launched by City Union Bank.

  1. Tajamul Islam has won the gold medal at the under-8 World Kickboxing Championship in Italy.

  2. Indian women’s carrom team has won the gold at the seventh World carrom championship held in Birmingham (UK) by defeating Sri Lanka.

  3. Indian hockey captain PR Sreejesh has been nominated for the International Hockey Federation’s (FIH) goalkeeper of the year award.
